HONK Launches Contactless Parking at Washington State University Spokane Campus
Drivers on campus can now skip the meter and safely pay for parking on their phone – No app required!
SPOKANE, WA, Aug 24, 2021 – HONK, North America’s leading provider of contactless payments for parking, launched its parking services at Washington State University’s Spokane campus. The new touch-free payment solution ensures parking is safe, convenient and accessible for students, staff and faculty. Drivers have two touch-free ways to pay with HONK: (1) scan their phone on a QR code located onsite for a quick guest checkout experience, or (2) download the free HonkAPP from the App Store or Google Play.
“The new touch-free payments system through HONK comes at a perfect time for our campus, as students, staff and faculty are returning for the first time since March 2020,” said Kevin Dudley, spokesperson for the WSU Spokane campus. “This system is quick, convenient and will allow us to better serve our customers, whether they’re students, staff, faculty or community members.”
The scan-to-park option gives drivers a quick, guest checkout experience on their phone. With no app to download or pay station to touch, drivers simply scan their phone on the QR code to pull up a payment screen that is pre-loaded with the rate options. Drivers type in their license plate and select for how long they want to park.
For app lovers, the HonkAPP is another contactless payment option for drivers who wish to pay for parking and manage a session directly from their phone. As with the scan-to-park option, drivers can pay via Apple Pay, PayPal and all major credit cards. Drivers can also opt to receive text reminders when their parking is set to expire, and can add more time to their parking session directly from their phone – no need to rush back to feed the meter if a study session is running late! The HONK payment system integrates directly with WSU’s parking enforcement – passing paid parking sessions to enforcement officers in real-time.
“As consumer behavior has shifted dramatically to digital over the past 18 months in an effort to avoid high-touch surfaces, it’s important that parking follows suit,” said Michael Back, HONK Founder and CEO. “We’re thrilled to give students, faculty, staff and visitors to the Washington State University Spokane campus access to the best contactless parking solution available on the market.”
